Want, Need, Gotta Have It

I keep thinking I've been updating this ol' blog far more than I have, and that's because I've been so busy working on the spa's site. I worked on our social media for my entire shift on Saturday, phew!

Moving along, I decided to take a cue from my dealings with that blog and create my very own "summer's most wanted" list:

1) I really want this body scrub by Fig + Yarrow. I'm not even a coffee person, but this seems super nice and it gets great reviews. I've been dying for a nice exfoliator that doesn't leave me too oily. However, I'm not so into the price tag. :/

2) I really do need more summer clothing. For years and years I've just worn jeans and felt miserable. Until the time where I can make myself wear shorts without tights, I need to find a hot weather-friendly alternative. I'm not sure if I can pull off a maxi skirt, but I think I should try. I'm tired of feeling miserable all summer long.

3) OK, hear me out. I really, really love the smell of honeysuckle. I kept saying I wish you could bottle it ... well my wish might have come true! I've heard from many sources that even though it's Bath & Body Works product, the Wild Honeysuckle Fragrance Mist is legit. Oh I sure hope so! B&BW, you will see me soon!

In other news, "Babywatch 2013" is officially underway. I should be an aunt, any day now. I'm so excited to meet my niece or nephew! All the feels, guys, all the feels.

Put a Bird On It!

Is "put a bird on it" a dated reference, yet? If not, the Ginge asks you to do so! (but not really)

So, it's been a hot minute, hasn't it? These past few weeks are flying by. I might as well call them the Superman, because they have whizzed by faster than a bird, plane, all that jazz!

My sister Emily left for Dubai on Monday, and she will be gone for three weeks. I cannot believe it, and yet I know when I turn around it will be time for her to come back home. My sister Mary Ellyn left for her internship last week and Lauren is due any day now! I must also mention Hayley will be visiting for the first time, since she and her husband moved to Kansas City last April.

Seriously, so much is happening in the next two weeks of my life. I'm trying to process and savor it all.

And speaking of change, I wore this outfit to my first day of my "new" job! Last night I bid the restaurant adieu (I will miss a lot of those awesome servers), and I am now, finally, an official full-time member of the spa staff. I will still be predominately working in the spa's call center (as I have done for four years), but now I will be over the spa's social media, assisting with marketing, and several other facets that are still being worked out. My title's name is to be determined, but I'm very excited to actually use my brain on creative projects. I cannot express adequately enough how this has affected my mood and disposition, knowing that I am recognized by my director as someone of value and worth. For the first time post-college, I am excited about where my life is headed. 

Good/happy feelings, you guys!

Other things: I got a gel manicure and it's pretty rad. I'm super rough on my nails, I never was a dainty little thing, so this type of service has been a polish-saver.

The Ginge has been super busy himself, doing his Ginger things: playing music in a band or two, working on various projects and feeling just as stoked on positive things going on with his work situation. We both keep wondering when the other shoe will drop, we aren't used to so many happy tidings. I feel this way because despite my lack of Hebrew heritage, I suffer from Jewish guilt,  I swear. Do any of you feel guilty when several good things come your way or just expect something horrible is on the horizon?

Yes, I know how neurotic that sounds, but hey, that's just me.

In Between

 

First I must say that I am so happy spring is finally here to stay. It snowed in early April, and that was certainly unusual and unwelcome. My friend Shannon (and downstairs neighbor, luckily for me) has set out some of her planters and we plan to buy flowers to plant next month. She also has a veggie and herb garden in the backyard. She makes our duplex look good.  :)

I decided to snap a few photos in between my two jobs. As a hostess for a "fancy schmancy" restaurant, I know I need to look nice, but where I bus tables as well, I feel like I need to be comfortable too. Hopefully this is an acceptable medium. 

(that's me telling myself that this outfit is a-OK!)

I hope you all are having a pleasant Tuesday. I only work at the spa for the rest of the week, but on Friday my BIL Bryon and his gf Alisha are coming to stay with us for the first time ever. I hope they have fun! I always feel (self-induced) pressure to make sure everyone is having a nice time.

Simple Pleasures

1.) The two printed headbands I bought from Lemons & Lace. I wore the yellow chevron one to work, today.

2.) I know I've posted these loafers before, but I just love 'em.

3.) My coworker Mandi brings her Entertainment Weeklys for me to read on Fridays or Saturdays, because she's awesome. She's doubly awesome because sometimes she pre-reads them, so that I can take them home. She knows I love "Doctor Who" and that I'm jazzed about the new "Star Trek," so she's been nice enough to give me those issues (among others!).

4.) My semi-grown out gel manicure. Suzi Loves Feng Shui is a fun color, especially with a small amount of glitter thrown on top (see ring finger). Working at a spa does have its perks at times. Cheap manicures for the win!

Beauty Tips For Dummies By a Dummy

I've been really interested in integrating more videos on this blog, so in order to get better, I thought I must do. Ya know, practice makes perfect (I hope)!

For my next project: product reviews.

I thought it would be more genuine coming from someone who isn't sponsored by said product. Yes, I'm 26 and a newb, but I'm learning a lot as I go. Seeking advice from a professional would be helpful, for sure. However, hearing from me could be helpful too.

The review is pretty short and sweet. I do want to add that my hair felt even softer the day after using the Moroccan Oil, so kudos to you MO!

Here's a really cheap posting for MO on Amazon. Not Your Mother's dry shampoo is usually around $6 and can be found at most drugstores. I bought mine at Walmart, so there ya have it.

Finally, I'll leave you with this life update: I'm thinking about obtaining a master's degree online (since there's nothing I want to study at my Alma mater and moving is not on the agenda right now). Do any of you have any experience with online degrees? I'd love to hear from you! 

 

 

PS: I don't think I need to point out the annoying little tick I displayed throughout the video, but yes, I will be working on NOT doing that in the next vid. Never fear!
